Snorkeling spots to know
- Cemetery Beach / Cemetery Reef (West Bay): an easy shore entry to a shallow reef.
- Eden Rock and Devil's Grotto (George Town): shallow grottoes and tunnels close to town.
- Starfish Point and Rum Point: calm, shallow water, good for beginners and kids.
- Stingray City Sandbar: standing-depth water with rays (boat trip).
Conditions change with wind and swell; ask locally and never snorkel alone.
Diving
Cayman is famous for wall diving, where the reef drops off into very deep water close to shore. Well-known Grand Cayman sites include the USS Kittiwake wreck (sunk as an artificial reef off Seven Mile Beach) and the North Wall. Cayman Brac and Little Cayman (Bloody Bay) are bucket-list destinations for many divers.
Marine Parks and rules
The Department of Environment manages the Marine Protected Areas. Rules cover fishing, anchoring and taking marine life. Don't touch or stand on coral, and use reef-friendly practices.
